personal statement

After gaining my Hon’s Degree in Business Information Systems in January 2000, I worked as a web designer for LJ Technical Systems for over 4 years. As part of this role I created interactive learning material for the Internet. Further more designing and maintaining a website and server which hosted www.tbciencias.com for a large project in Mexico.

For the past 4 years I have worked as the lead web designer and more recently team leader for a web solutions company called Studio Create. During my time at Studio Create I have coordinated a small team of developers as well as designing and producing many website's including; www.steeleslaw.com, www.bewilderwood.co.uk, www.nakedmarketing.co.uk, www.greenatlanticpartners.com, www.litv.tv and www.e-b1s.com (more available in my portfolio). I am looking for a more challenging position with greater responsibilities and a role that satisfies my passion for varied web design. I am continuously working on various personal website's including www.mylotuselise.co.uk and www.myfto.co.uk which demonstrates my passion for cars.

I feel this is the perfect time for me to further my career, settle down and acquire new skills within a new organisation.  I feel the company I am currently working for does not have the infrastructure or flexibility for me to progress.  I am able to start work as soon as possible, although I am required to give one months notice.

Specialist Knowledge:
I have hand coded HTML for over seven years, XHTML and CSS for the past 4 while working at Studio Create, LJ Technical systems, and throughout my Degree.  I have gained extensive skills in the following: Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash (including action scripting), Screensaver design, streaming video with Real Producer and Windows Movie Maker, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft FrontPage, JavaScript, IIS, and various FTP clients. I am very proficient at organising all aspects of website construction, including wire drawing design, W3C web standards to ensure cross browser compatibility and website accessibility, domain name registration, search engine optimisation and email/domain setup, including Google App's.

Skills and Abilities:
Whilst working for LJ Technical Systems and Studio Create I have acquired various skills.  These include good interpersonal skills and communication.  I have worked independently while in charge of several projects and more recently working as a team leader.  I am required to meet tight deadlines with very little notice.  I have experience with documenting my work with the utilisation of storyboards and ISO documentation such as time plans and interim work reviews.

I am also required to visit customers on behalf of the company.  On these occasions I have liaised with the client to ascertain their web requirements, to provide them with a detailed specification and Client Care Agreement to meet their needs.

Graphic/Branding Skills:
When developing website's for both local and national organisations I consider the company image very carefully and work closely with the company to develop a brand and style that can be applied to their website, their stationary and other media applications such as screensavers.
